There’s something slightly magical about turning a lump of clay into an actual pot — and you absolutely do not need to know what you’re doing before you arrive.

Whether you want to try throwing for the first time, spend a little longer getting to grips with it, or build on skills you already have, you’ll find all our current wheel-throwing sessions and courses below.

Complete beginner?

Perfect.

We’ll take you through the process step by step: centring the clay, opening it up, pulling the walls and beginning to control the shape.

Nobody expects your first pot to be perfectly symmetrical. Frankly, that would be suspicious.

Our throwing groups are deliberately small, so you’ll have your own wheel and plenty of help while you work.

Want to get better?

Throwing gets much more satisfying once you have time to practise.

Our longer sessions and courses give you the chance to repeat the process, understand what went wrong when a pot collapses spectacularly, and gradually start making the shapes you intended to make in the first place.

If you already have some experience, look for sessions aimed at developing technique rather than introductory classes.
